CHICAGO AREA CRAFTERS

I just got this email:
I saw your work online and I am wondering if you'd like to participate in a craft show / rummage sale fundraiser on March 14th,2010 if you're in the area. Some 7th and 8th grade students form the Marengo area are trying to raise funds in various ways to offset the cost of tickets for a Washington DC trip in June. One of the ways we are raising money is with a rummage/craft show. It will be held in Union near Interstate 90 and we are looking for crafters to pay $15 for an 8 ft banquet table (chairs included) plus donate one item(at least $10 value) for a raffle prize to be held that day as well. All proceeds from your sales belong to you, the seller. We have a space of approx. 10,000 sq. feet available for our use. We are advertising this sale with local Newspapers and Radio Stations. I know it's short notice but please consider it and let me know.

I will be checking our calendar right now, but if nothing too big is going on, I will most likely do this. It's a great 'starter' show and it's also a way to meet local crafters. I don't go into small ones like this to make gobs of money, more or less it's a social affair for me and a way to just get local word about my shop out and about. It is also how I get e-mails about local shoes.

definitely not enough time for me to build inventory for a craft show. If I"m not busy that day, perhaps I'll come by and see it. I tried to see you at one other craft show (Gilberts I think), but you weren't there LOL!

Feel free to tell me to but out if this is not a good suggestion.

Michelle, if you get a table, can Wendy have about two feet of it to get some exposure if that is ok with the organizers. They could get two items for their auction from one table that way.

I shared a table with someone last October even though it sounded like they were renting space to one person per table. We were both glad we shared the space.

That sounds like fun....how far is Marengo from here Michelle??? I might be intersted if it isn't too far. (and they are providing the table...so one less thing to haul...lol

Beckie it's about less than an hour, maybe 45 minutes stright down 20. I just passed it tonite on my way to my parents house and the place is at is on 20 and Union Road. It's being televised on local tv (commercials) and they have taken out radio ads as well!

Cathy, I have asked about sharing space and wi-fi and a whole bunch of other questions, she is asking the head and getting back to me tomorrow.

I didn't make it to Gilberts as my car decided to have transmission problems that day! hah! I think I posted about our insanity with out car that week. It took them forever to get the part from Honda and then they got the wrong one (we drive a 5-speed and they got us the automatic one) and then they weren't ready for about 3 days after they said they were. It was nothing but pure insanity!

Right now I am also waiting to hear if it's just an 8ft table space or if we are getting an entire 10x10 booth space.

With all of the advertising they are doing, that is definitely a great price. I'd jump on it in a heart beat if I were MUCH closer.

I've been invited to set up in the teacher's lounge at a local elementary school at the end of this month. It will be interesting to see how that goes.

Good luck Cathy! I am very excited about the advertising she told me they are doing and even though it's for a school, they are setting up at a Steakhouse banquet facility because it's right off the main road and the school was harder to get to.

alright, one 8ft table is included with chairs, if you need more than that, you can rent them for 3.00 each.

sharing is allowed as long as each shop donates a fundraiser gift.

Set up is at 7am and show begins at 8am.

No wi-fi, but yes to electric booths however it's first come first serve.

Wow, that sounds awesome. I hope everyone in the area that can take advantage of it has a lot of success.

I'll let everyone know how the teacher's lounge invite works out. It is March 31.

BOOO!!! I can't do this show!?!?! Is anyone else able to do it?? I have gymnastics for the kids in the morning and my husband just got called in to work that morning too! Go figure! then that afternoon the kids have a school event at the childrens museum that they don't want to miss either

I really want to hear feedback on how this show went and I know I can't even make it as a spectator before it's over.

there is a craft show here in Crystal Lake that day, I'm going to go check that one out, it's much closer
